Zandvoort Light Walk immerses 6,500 walkers in a world full of light

Yesterday evening, Zandvoort was completely dedicated to light and experience during the 5th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk. For one evening, the seaside resort was transformed into an open-air museum full of light art, where no fewer than 6,500 walkers immersed themselves in an enchanting 'Water World'. Along the routes of 18, 14, 10, and the 6.5 km Family Walk, the light artworks creatively shaped the theme and turned Zandvoort into a luminous world below sea level.
The walking adventure began in the center of Zandvoort, at the Louis Davids Carré, which already filled with enthusiastic participants at the end of the afternoon. After picking up their luminous Zandvoort Light Walk cap, they gathered at the start. At 5:15 PM, the first starting shot sounded, after which the youngest participants were the first to set off to discover the beautiful lights. It was not just the light artworks that provided a special spectacle; the participants themselves also contributed to the whole. Decorated with lights, they together formed a long, sparkling ribbon through Zandvoort.
The routes led the walkers through the center, along the boulevard, across the beach, and even over part of the iconic Circuit Zandvoort. Along the way, one light scene followed another: from illuminated octopuses and dancing fish to colorful jellyfish, bubble machines, and an illuminated rescue brigade boat. Interactive elements, such as luminous tunnels and projections, also brought wonder to young and old.
Spread along the route, various stamp checkpoints offered walkers the opportunity to catch their breath and refuel. After a refreshing break, the route continued towards the finish on the Kleine Krocht. A cozy finish party with live music and a DJ awaited them there. Many walkers took the opportunity to dance, keeping the atmosphere lively until late in the evening.
Great amount raised for KNRM Zandvoort
During this anniversary edition, participants walked for KNRM Zandvoort, the official charity of the Zandvoort Light Walk. Upon registration, walkers could make a voluntary donation. Shortly after the first start, the check was presented, with a wonderful final amount of €1,888 for the local rescue brigade.
Walk further in Zandvoort
The 6th edition of the Zandvoort Light Walk is scheduled for Saturday, February 6th. Anyone who doesn't want to wait that long can enjoy a walking event in Zandvoort even sooner. On Saturday, March 28th, the 30 van Zandvoort is on the agenda. Not a walk at sunset, but rather at sunrise: discover the seaside resort in the daylight. In addition to the 30 and 20 kilometers, walkers can also choose to complete a full lap of Circuit Zandvoort. More walking plans? View the full walking calendar at www.lechampion.nl.
